Opengl downgrades on windows 8/8.1 upgrade - super user

Dota supports both directx and opengl renderer. on windows dota uses directx by default (mac/linux dota use opengl), but with this dlc you can download the files that support windows opengl too. to run dota on windows in opengl you need to start it with the launch option "-gl". Is there an option or something to set up dota 2 in opengl mode on windows? i'd tried to run dota on linux and i've got only 10-20 fps, but the game was smoother, graphics was a bit better, despite such a horrible fps..
